Pen CS was delighted to host HISA’s 6th Young Talent Time event in our Sydney office last Thursday, August 24. The evening was a great opportunity to hear PhD candidates from a range of universities, including ANU, UWS and USYD, come together to discuss cutting edge research and share their visions of what the future of Australian health informatics will look like. Topics covered during the event included digital data as a tool for predictive diagnoses, the viability of using a genomic comparator for cohort analysis, data analysis for understanding chronic disease risk factors and the use of ICD code descriptors to cluster hospital admissions in related groups.
All attendees were able to gain 1.5 contact hours of credit towards renewal of their CHIA credential, a program developed by HISA, ACHI and HIMAA to provide official recognition of professionals within Australia’s growing health informatics industry. It was a privilege to take part in an event that shares Pen CS’ vision of developing and implementing innovative health informatics tools to create a healthier Australia and we applaud HISA for creating a program that recognises new talent in the industry.
Diary Note: HISA’s forum on ‘Emerging Innovation in Manufacturing’ will be hosted by Pen CS and the Macquarie Health Corporation on October 19, 2017 in Sydney. For more information please contact HISA on 03 9326 3311.
