Friday, 15th October 2021 – Pen CS is honoured to be recognised as one of Australia and New Zealand’s Most Innovative Companies, having been named on the 2021 AFR BOSS Most Innovative Companies List.  Pen CS is honoured to rank #7 on the ‘Health Industries’ list, from over 700 nominated organisations across Australia and New Zealand.

Pen CS was recognised for ‘Privacy-preserving Data Linkage’, a health informatics proprietary technology solution.

The prestigious annual list, published by The Australian Financial Review and Boss Magazine, is based on a rigorous assessment process managed by Australia’s leading innovation consultancy, Inventium, in conjunction with a panel of industry expert judges.

“The most rewarding part of being on the 2021 AFR Boss Most Innovative Companies List is the recognition for our dedicated and hard-working team. This acknowledgement is for them and for our customers, who are our partners, in delivering innovative healthcare solutions that impact all Australians,” said Edweana Wenkart, CEO of Pen CS.

“Privacy-preserving data linkage, with a strong security foundation, offers a solution to address long-standing interoperability issues in the healthcare domain,” said Senthu Jegadheesan, Chief Technology Officer of Pen CS.

Privacy-preserving data linkage has many applications. In particular, the move towards value-based healthcare and appropriate risk stratification of patients to provide better patient care. For example, if a patient has recently been admitted to hospital and not been to visit their Doctor within 30 days of being discharged, they may be at a higher risk of re-hospitalisation than someone who has seen their local Doctor. Linking de-identified datasets with a safe, secure, privacy-preserving technology enables us to support better patient care that also focuses on prevention.

The assessment measures a top innovation implemented in the past two years. Specifically, the judges look at how valuable the problem is that the innovation is solving, the quality and uniqueness of the solution, and the level of impact that the innovation has had. Inventium also assesses internal elements such as innovation culture, strategy, resources and process, which demonstrate a sustainable and repeatable approach to innovation.
